The state Farm Employees Award has been updated to expand its coverage to the dairy industry. 

This change, which is effective from 1 July 2024, was made as part of a process being undertaken by the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission to update the scope of a number of private sector WA awards. 

The coverage of the Farm Employees Award was previously expanded to a broader range of farming activities in November 2023, and this latest change further expands the award’s coverage to the dairy industry. 

New provisions for part time work for employers and employees in the dairy industry have also been added to the award, allowing flexibility in working hours to suit the dairying season/s. 

Wageline will publish a new version of the award summary for the Farm Employees Award which incorporates these changes in June 2024.
