Previous ThinkSafe campaigns
1997
In 1997 the ThinkSafe campaign again targeted the whole community, using the ThinkSafe SAM steps to promote safety at home, at work and on the roads.
Campaign promotional strategies included billboard advertising at metro locations and Subiaco oval, production of a ThinkSafe video, magazine articles, distribution of new posters, stickers and calendars and television advertisements.
The Insurance Commission of Western Australia (then the State Government Insurance Commission) provided support for the DriveSafe element of the campaign with television, billboard and bus back advertising.
Six new television advertisements were broadcast in 1997. These were broadcast as follows:
- General work safety (young workers) - February, March
- Safe driving (young drivers) - February, March
- Promotion of the ThinkSafe Video - August, September, November
- Falls from heights (home and work) - September
- Electrical hazards (home and work) - October
- Drink driving (young males) - December
Further additions to the campaign were:
- introduction of ThinkSafe FarmSafe for agricultural communities;
- launch of the ThinkSafe video and ThinkSafe Towns project at Collie on 5 August; and
- launch of the ThinkSafe Club Internet program for primary school students at a council library on 17 December.
- Insight Research conducted further evaluation of the campaign in December 1997 - See ThinkSafe Evaluation 1997/98.
