Motor vehicles

When consumers buy a car they will usually deal with motor vehicle dealers and motor vehicle repairers. Dealers and repairers have to be licensed in Western Australia, and have certain legal obligations when dealing with consumers.

This section of the DOCEP website provides advice for consumers, dealers and repairers.

Consumers will find information about buying a motor vehicle and warranties particularly useful and there are some great tips on things to consider when choosing a repairer.

Persons considering becoming a car dealer are given the information needed to get a licence and dealers will benefit from reading the dealer operations page.

Motor vehicle repairer licensing has been introduced this year and the repairer web pages explain how the new law works. Of real interest to motor vehicle repairers will be the information about the types of repair work (Classes of repair work) for which you will need a repairer certificate.
