Minimum wage rates
The Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 provides minimum wage rates applicable to employees covered by the Western Australia State labour relations system
The minimum wage provided by the Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 (MCE Act) applies to most employees in the State labour relations system.
It should be noted that many employees covered by a State award or agreement are entitled to a higher wage rate.
The adult minimum wage rate under the MCE Act applies to employees who are 21 years and over. Junior employees receive a percentage of that rate based on their age.
Part time employees receive a rate of pay that is calculated by dividing the minimum weekly rate by 38. Casual employees receive a casual loading of 20 percent.
Separate minimum wages apply for trainees and apprentices who are engaged solely under the MCE Act.
