Choice of superannuation fund
Most Australian employees can now choose the fund into which their employer deposits their 9% superannuation guarantee contributions, and this choice is soon to be introduced for WA State Government employees.
To allow State Government employees and employers time to prepare for the changes, choice is proposed to begin in 2009.
Currently, in nearly all cases, State Government employer super contributions have to be paid into GESB. Once choice is introduced, you will be able to choose another super fund or remain with GESB.
If you don't make a choice, your employer contributions will continue to be made to GESB, because it's the employer (or default) fund for WA State Government employees.
