Praise for WA Media Award winners

The Commissioner for Consumer Protection Anne Driscoll would like to publicly congratulate "The West Australian" reporters Gary Adshead and Sean Cowan for winning both the consumer affairs category and the Arthur Lovekin Prize in Journalism at last night's Western Australian Media Awards for their stories on Firepower.
"I would like to pay tribute to both reporters for the excellent example of investigative journalism that made them well-deserved winners of both the consumer affairs category and the major journalism prize at the WA Media Awards," Ms Driscoll said.
"The media has an important role to play in uncovering and highlighting unfair and unscrupulous business practices that affect consumers as well as investors and, in this case, the reporters did an outstanding job.
"We look forward to continuing to work with the media as advocates to protect the rights of consumers and make sure they are well informed and empowered to exercise their rights."
