ULP price alert – start of new price cycle in Perth
Issue Date: - Tuesday, 2 June 2009
FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to always check petrol prices before they buy.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 3 June 2009, a number of Caltex sites are increasing their ULP prices up to 132.9 cpl, an increase of up to 16 cpl. Most BP sites are also increasing their ULP prices up to 130.9 cents per litre (cpl), an increase of 15.4 cpl. This signals the start of a new petrol price cycle in Perth.
Perth’s petrol prices follow a weekly cycle, where prices increase on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then decrease for the remainder of the week. Not all brands move their prices at the same time so there is a wide variation in prices from site to site. Currently Tuesday is, on average, the cheapest day of the week to buy petrol.
189 (63.2%) petrol stations are selling below the metropolitan average of 119.2 cpl tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for:
- 113.9 cpl at 3 sites in the East;
- 113.5 cpl at 2 sites in the North; and
- 113.4 cpl at 2 sites in the South.
Motorists can find the cheapest prices by checking the FuelWatch website at www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 55 08 08.
