ULP price alert – start of new price cycle in Perth

Issue Date:  -  Tuesday, 7 July 2009

FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to always check petrol prices before they buy.

Tomorrow,  Wednesday 8 July 2009, some BP sites are increasing their ULP prices  to 132.9 cents per litre (cpl), an increase of up to 16 cpl. A number of Caltex sites are also increasing their ULP prices  to 131.9 cpl, an increase of  14 cpl. This signals the start of a new petrol price cycle in Perth.

Despite this, over 200 petrol stations will be selling below the metropolitan average of 120.2 cpl tomorrow.

“Motorists who fill up their vehicle tomorrow should look to pay no more than 120.2 cpl” said Deputy Prices Commissioner Aaron Rayner.

“We have seen international prices decrease in recent days. If these decreases are sustained, petrol prices should start to ease slightly in the next week or so” he said.

Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for

·         115.5 cpl at 5 sites in the East;

·         114.4 cpl at Caltex Woolworths Morley Galleria in the North; and

·         114.4 cpl at Caltex Woolworths Kwinana in the South.

Motorists can find the cheapest prices by checking the FuelWatch website at   www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 55 08 08.
