ULP price alert – start of new petrol price cycle in Perth
Issue Date: - Tuesday, 7 April 2009
Tomorrow (Wednesday, 8 April 2009) most BP and some Caltex sites are increasing their ULP
prices by between 15 and 17 cents per litre (cpl) up to 127.9 cpl. This signals the start of a new
petrol price cycle in Perth.
FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper
prices are still available and to always check petrol prices before they buy.
During 2008, Perth did not experience a regular price cycle. Since the re-introduction of a price
cycle in recent weeks, Perth’s petrol prices now follow a weekly cycle, where prices increase
sharply during a two to three day period and then slowly decrease for the remainder of the week.
Not all brands move their prices at the same time so there is a wide variation in prices from site to
site.
Over 175 petrol stations are selling below the metropolitan average of 114.9 cpl tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for 108.9 cpl at:
- Coles Express Forrestfield and Coles Express Kalamunda in the East/Hills;
- nine sites in the North; and
- five sites in the South.
Motorists can find the cheapest prices by checking the FuelWatch website at
www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 55 08 08.
