Caltex hikes LPG prices as international prices fall

Issue Date:  -  Monday, 10 November 2008

FuelWatch has strongly condemned the decision by some Caltex and Caltex/Woolworths fuel outlets to increase their LPG prices today by between 6 and 11 cents per litre to 76.9cpl.

These increases come despite record falls in world LPG prices this month.

“Motorists have every right to be disappointed with the actions of Caltex and Caltex/Woolworths in hiking their prices in the face of tumbling international prices,” Deputy Prices Commissioner Aaron Rayner said.

“Shop around, as there is no need to pay these high prices with over 70 outlets selling below 68cpl,” Mr Rayner said.

An example of today’s best buy is:

  • Coles Express Highgate - 59.9cpl

Examples of today’s worst buys are:

  • Caltex Mt Lawley -  76.9cpl
  • Caltex Starmart Glendalough - 76.9cpl
