Real estate agent loses licence permanently - Charles Parrella & Associates
Issue Date: - Wednesday, 28 May 2008
The Real Estate and Business Agents Supervisory Board (REBA) has obtained orders in the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) cancelling the real estate licence of Carmello (Charles) Parrella, who formerly traded as Charles Parrella & Associates in Morley.
The Tribunal found there was proper cause for disciplinary action against Mr Parrella in relation to unlawful and unauthorised misappropriation of trust funds.
It also found Mr Parrella not a fit and proper person and permanently disqualified him from holding a licence or triennial certificate. He was ordered to pay costs of $1,000.
"REBA acted swiftly in this matter to obtain appropriate orders to rightly protect the interests of consumers", Board Chairman Mark Cuomo said.
REBA previously obtained orders in the Tribunal for the appointment of a supervisor over Mr Parrella's business and appointed Mr Anthony Bevan of Ernst & Young as the Supervisor.
"The Fidelity Guarantee Account administered by REBA may provide reimbursement for consumers who have suffered a loss of money or property as a result of their dealings with Charles Parrella & Associates," Mr Cuomo said.
Consumers who have not yet lodged a claim against the Fidelity Guarantee Account should contact REBA staff on telephone 9282 0534 or 9282 0476.
Information about the Fidelity Guarantee Account is available on REBA's website www.reba.wa.gov.au.
