WorkSafe investigates death of worker

WorkSafe is investigating the work-related death of a 77-year-old man at North Perth this morning.

The man was believed to have been operating a lathe at a service station in Angove Street when his clothing became caught and he was drawn into the machine.

Inspectors arrived at the site soon after the incident, and will continue to investigate.

WorkSafe thoroughly investigates all serious work-related injuries and deaths in WA with a view to preventing future incidents of a similar nature.

WorkSafe WA Commissioner Nina Lyhne said any work-related death was a tragedy, and relayed her sincere condolences to the man’s family.
