WorkSafe is investigating the possible drowning of a 42-year-old man at sea off Carnarvon.
The man – believed to be a deckhand – fell overboard early this morning from the scallop vessel LFB Murchison approximately 18km south-west of Carnarvon.
The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Carnarvon Police, who are conducting a search for the missing man.
WorkSafe thoroughly investigates serious work-related injuries and deaths in WA with a view to preventing future incidents of a similar nature.
WorkSafe WA Commissioner Nina Lyhne said that any work-related incident of this nature was a potential tragedy, and that her thoughts were with the man’s family and friends.
