Fair Trading still pursuing Info4pc Pty Ltd

The Ministry of Fair Trading today reminded customers of Perth-based computer retailer Info4pc Pty Ltd that it was still pursuing charges against the company.

A contempt of court matter against Info4pc will be heard in the Supreme Court next Monday, whilst the Ministry is also proceeding with alleged breaches under the Fair Trading Act.

Commissioner for Fair Trading Patrick Walker said that, for all intents and purposes, Info4pc was still not trading, nearly three months after closing its doors.

"The company has made no attempt to advise consumers on the reality of its financial position," Mr Walker said.

"Info4pc's financial position is such that consumers still waiting to receive computers they ordered are extremely unlikely to get them, or receive a refund," he said.

Fair Trading had issued four general warnings to WA consumers since October last year about Info4pc's cash up-front offer on new computers.

Consumers wanting fair trading advice can ring the Fair Trading Call Centre during office hours on 1300 30 40 54 for the cost of a local call. Last year the call centre gave free advice to more than 170,000 West Australians.
