Temporary shut-down of services

The Ministry of Fair Trading would like to advise Customers wishing to register new business names or use the REVS (Register of Encumbered Vehicles) service on Friday 31st December that these functions will be temporarily interrupted due to preparation of computer dataases for the Y2K change-over.

It will not be possible to process Business Names applications on Friday the 31st of December as the linked National Names System (which is managed nationally) will be unavailable. However information can still be lodged at the Ministry's Customer Service Centre on the ground floor of 219 St Georges Terrace Perth. Business Names Telephone support will be available on that day until 5pm on 1300 30 40 14.

REVS telephone services will be available on 1300 30 40 24 (for members of the public) and (08) 9282 0840 (for dealers) until 12noon only on Friday the 31st of December.

All Ministry 1300 telephone numbers offer a statewide service for the cost of a local call.

Acting Chief Executive for Fair Trading Gary Newcombe said "the Ministry regrets any inconvenience experienced by their Customers and hopes they will understand the necessity to be Y2K ready." He also takes this opportunity to extend the Ministry's best wishes for the New Year and looks forward to the challenges of the next millennium.
