Motor Vehicle Dealer and Car Market Operator
Licences and renewals are issued for a period of up to three years. The three-year period starts from the date the licence is approved. These fees are exempt from GST and withholding tax.
The fee paid will be based on the number of premises (yards) from which a dealer proposes to operate. A fee of $719 applies for each additional premises.

Yard manager
Licences and renewals are issued for a period of up to three years.
The licence fee for three years is $367.00.
If you have submitted your application for a Yard Manager's licence and you wish to operate as a Yard Manager, but you are waiting successful completion of the training course, you may seek a Temporary Permit (Interim Authorisation), which if approved will cost an additional $47.75.
Salesperson
Licences and renewals are issued for a period of up to three years.
The licence fee for three years is $249.00.
If you have submitted your application for a Salesperson's licence and you wish to operate as a Salesperson, but you are waiting successful completion of the training course, you may seek a Temporary Permit (Interim Authorisation), which if approved will cost an additional $47.75.

| Changes to ownership structure: If a dealership proposes to change its ownership structure, but the principal 'natural persons' remain the same (eg partners in a firm become directors in a body corporate operating the same dealership from the same premises), the dealership can seek to amend the ownership details for a fee of $120.00. (Note: If a dealership is sold to a new entity, then the new entity must acquire a dealer's licence and the original entity must surrender its licence.) |

Trader enquiry fee
The Motor Vehicles Branch provides a service to dealers and vehicle repairers, under which our technical officers will give written advice as to whether a vehicle should be repaired under warranty.
