Licensing and registration

There are several trades and industrial items that require either  a licence or registration. Below is a listing of some of these trades and items.

1. High risk work

From 1 October 2007 High Risk Work Licences replaced the National Occupational Health and Safety Certification Standard for User and Operators of Industrial Equipment.  Learn more:

2. Asbestos

An asbestos removal licence is required in Western Australia for the removal or encapsulation of installed thermal or acoustic insulation that contains asbestos.  Only a licence holder or an employee of a licence holder may carry out this type of work.
A licence may be applied for by completing the approved application found in the Asbestos removal licence package found below.

3. Demolition 

A licence is required to carry out certain types of demolition work. 
It is an offence to do any work described as "class 1", "class 2" or "class 3" demolition work without an appropriate licence.  A person may apply for a licence to carry out demolition work by filling out the approved application found with the demolition licence application package below.

    4. Plant

    Register an item of plant

    In Western Australia certain items of plant must be registered with WorkSafe due to their potential to cause bodily harm or death.  To register an item of plant Application 101 must be completed and submitted to WorkSafe.

    Plant design registration

    In Western Australia certain kinds of plant must be registered with WorkSafe due to their potential to cause bodily harm or death.  To register a plant design Application 100 must be completed and submitted to WorkSafe.

    Licence to Perform High Risk Work

    • Application for Licence (new issue or variation): $73.00
    • Application for renewal of licence: $62.00
    • Application for conversion of licence: $46.50
    • Application for replacement of lost or stolen licence/certificate: $46.50

    Demolition Licences

    • Class 1 Demolition Licence: $3,753.00
    • Class 2 Demolition Licence: $2,492.00
    • Class 3 Demolition Licence: $1,205.00
    • Asbestos Removal Licence: $1,246.00

    Assessor for Licence to Perform High Risk Work

    • Registration for a new Assessor: $886.00
    • Renewal of Registration: $442.50
    • Variation of Registration: $147.00

    Registration of Plant

    • Registration and Re-Registration: $73.00
    • Registration of Design of Plant: $81.00

    Asbestos Removal
