The Inspiring Australia Unlocking Australia’s Potential grant round is now open!

Unlocking Australia's Potential aims to increase the scientific literacy of Australians and work towards a scientifically-engaged Australia.

A core objective of the Unlocking Australia’s Potential grant round is to target people who may not have had interest in or access to science engagement activities in the past. The round will also support the broader outcomes and principles of the Inspiring Australia strategy.

A total of $5 million is available across three levels of grant categories for projects to be delivered between 2012 and 2014.

It is intended that the round will fund a collection of projects that provide a good mix of activities with a variety of approaches, audiences, locations and topics. Applications are requested in the following categories:

  1. Small Grants – up to $5000 (GST exclusive) over the duration of the project – typically to individuals or small organisations for delivering innovative science engagement activities.
  2. Medium Grants – up to $45,000 (GST exclusive) over three years – to organisations for delivering high impact science engagement projects at a regional or national level.
  3. Large Grants – up to $500,000 (GST exclusive) over three years – to organisations, in partnership with other organisations, for delivering high impact and nationally significant science engagement projects.

Applications close on 29 February 2012 and it is planned that successful projects will be announced by May 2012.
