Mines Safety and Inspection Act resources

This section provides you with resources to help you fulfil your obligations under the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA).

The Mines Safety and Inspection Amendment Act 2004 (WA) came into effect on 4 April 2005. The amendments strengthen and improve the existing Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA) in relation to safety at mines and mining operations, and the inspection and regulations of mines, mining operations and plant.

Resources Safety believes the new legislation will further improve safety in our industry - but this will only happen if each employer and employee ensures the provisions for consultation and implementation of better safety practices are fully utilised.

Note:

  • The work performed by the former Mines Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board (MOSHAB) is now carried out by the Mining Industry Advisory Committee (MIAC), established under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 (WA).
  • Some of the material on this web site refers to former Government Departments, however the content remains valid.
