Major hazard facilities
Major hazard facilities (MHFs) are facilities such as oil refineries, chemical plants and large fuel and chemical storage sites that have the potential to cause major accidents.
Dangerous goods safety for Western Australian major hazard facilities is regulated and case managed by Resources Safety.
Classification as an MHF is largely based on the quantity of Schedule 1 materials, as specified in the Dangerous Goods Safety (Major Hazard Facilities) Regulations 2007, being present or likely to be present at the site.
