About Resources Safety
Resources Safety is a Division of the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection. A key role is to promote safety in mining, dangerous goods and onshore petroleum through education, enforcement and specialist advice.
Resources Safety administers the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA), Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 (WA), and associated regulations.
The division also provides specialist advice and safety regulatory services to the Department of Industry and Resources, through a formal Memorandum of Understanding, in relation to onshore petroleum facilities and pipelines covered under the following legislation:
- Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources Act 1967 (WA)
- Petroleum Pipelines Act 1969 (WA).
