The Labour Relations pay equity team is available to provide information to organisations on how to use the Pay Equity Audit Tool and how to conduct an audit.

1 – Introduction and formatting data fields.
This is an introduction to the background of running an audit plus detailed instructions on using the Tool. If you have already had a demonstration of the Tool and are comfortable using Excel, you may not need to read this whole document. If you are not familiar with Excel, this section will take you through the whole audit, with an illustrated step-by-step guide.
A guide to the formatting requirements for the data fields is included in this section. It is imperative that you match your payroll data to these fields.
2 – Sample/ dummy data.
You may use this data to familiarise yourself with the Tool before you insert your own organisation data. The data is randomised and is updated using the F9 key, or you can select the fixed data tab. You might manipulate this data so it mimics your organisation.
There are brief instructions on the left hand side to guide you through the steps.
3 – The automated Pay Equity Audit Tool
This is the Excel workbook, which is the functionality of the suite of resources. It comes with dummy data to demonstrate functions. Follow the simple instructions to ‘special paste’ your payroll data. Then at the click of a button, the Tool automatically produces tables and graphs to demonstrate gender pay gaps and work practices in your organisation.
Before inserting the data, read the information on formatting the data fields which you will find in Part 1. Also, ensure macros are enabled or the Tool will not update.
4 – Model Audit
This section demonstrates the results of an actual audit (identifying data has been removed). It gives you an idea for how you might lay out your report and provides sample recommendations that may be applicable for your organisation.
