Freedom of information statement
What is freedom of information?
The Freedom of Information Act 1992, enables the public to participate more effectively in governing the State and to make WA more accountable to the public. This gives people a right of access to documents held by a government agency.
The spirit and intent of the Act is to provide access to applicants promptly and at the lowest possible cost. The department’s philosophy is that it will endeavour to make as much information as possible available.
Where possible, the appropriate division of Commerce will grant access to documents outside the formal freedom of information process. On these occasions no fees and charges will be levied against the applicant.
The information statement has been prepared in accordance with Section 96 of the Act. The full document is currently being updated however the existing information statement can be obtained by contacting the Manager Corporate Information on 9282 0494.
- Download an FOI Application form in Adobe Acrobat format or Rich Text Format.
