ULP price alert – start of new price cycle in Perth
Issue Date: - Wednesday, 7 October 2009
FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to always check petrol prices before they buy.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 07 October 2009, most BP sites are increasing their ULP prices to 124.9 cents per litre (cpl), an increase of 12.0 cpl. This signals the start of a new petrol price cycle in Perth.
Perth’s petrol prices follow a weekly cycle, where prices increase sharply during a two to three day period and then slowly decrease for the remainder of the week. Not all brands move their prices at the same time so there is a wide variation in prices from site to site.
Petrol prices remain well below where they were 12 months ago when the average metropolitan ULP price was 153 cpl (compared with tomorrow’s average price of 115 cpl ).
203 (70%) petrol stations are selling below the metropolitan average of 115.0 cpl tomorrow.
Tomorrow's cheapest ULP is available for
- 109.9 cpl at 2 sites in the East;
- 108.8 cpl at Caltex Woolworths Morley Galleria in the North; and
- 108.8 cpl at Caltex Woolworths Warnbro Fair in the South.
Motorists can find the cheapest prices by checking the FuelWatch website at www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 55 08 08.
