ULP price alert – start of new price cycle in Perth
Issue Date: - Tuesday, 23 June 2009
FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to always check petrol prices before they buy.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 24 June 2009, most BP sites are increasing their ULP prices up to 135.9 cpl, an increase of up to 16.2 cpl. Also, a number of Caltex sites are increasing their ULP prices by 17 cpl to 134.9 cents per litre (cpl). This signals the start of a new weekly petrol price cycle in Perth.
Perth’s petrol prices now follow a weekly cycle, where prices increase sharply during a two to three day period and then slowly decrease for the remainder of the week.
Deputy Prices Commissioner, Aaron Rayner, said motorists should be aware that not all brands move their prices at the same time.
“At the moment, on average, Caltex and BP branded sites tend to have their best prices on Tuesdays. Most other brands tend to have their best prices on Wednesdays. Overall, Friday is the most expensive day to fill up in Perth,” Mr Rayner said.
187 (62.8%) petrol stations are selling below the metropolitan average of 122.3 cpl tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for
· 116.5 cpl at 2 sites in the East;
· 116.5 cpl at 14 sites in the North; and
· 116.5 cpl at 8 sites in the South.
Motorists can find the cheapest prices by checking the FuelWatch website at www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 55 08 08.
