Christmas fuel price advice for Perth drivers

Issue Date:  -  Wednesday, 23 December 2009

Motorists in Perth are being advised by FuelWatch to fill up today or tomorrow in order to pay less for petrol.

The start of a new fuel price cycle means that prices will be increasing over the next few days so it may pay to top up your tank sooner rather than later.

On Christmas Eve, Thursday 24 December 2009, some BP sites are increasing their ULP prices to 127.9 cents per litre (cpl) - an increase of up to 14.4 cpl. Also some Caltex Woolworths sites are increasing their ULP prices to 122.9 cpl - an increase of 10.0 cpl.

Other brands will most likely follow this increase over the next few days.

There is a wide variation in prices across Perth so FuelWatch advises drivers to ALWAYS check the price of petrol before they buy.

72 per cent of stations in Perth – that’s a total of 212 – will be selling at or below the metropolitan average of 116.0 cents per litre tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for:

  • 112.5 cpl at Gull High Wycombe in the East;
  • 112.4 cpl at United Edgewater in the North; and
  • 111.4 cpl at Caltex Woolworths South Lake in the South.

Motorists can find the cheapest prices via a free daily email from FuelWatch – simply head to www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au  to subscribe. More than 37,000 people are already signed up.

Alternatively you can also just log on to www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au each day, or phone 1300 55 08 08.
