ULP price alert - start of new price cycle in Perth
Issue Date: - Tuesday, 4 August 2009
FuelWatch is encouraging Perth motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to always check petrol prices before they buy.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 5 August 2009, most BP sites are increasing their ULP price to 133.9 cents per litre (cpl), an increase of up to 17.4 cpl. This signals the start of a new petrol price cycle in Perth.
Perth’s petrol prices typically follow a weekly cycle, where prices increase sharply during a two to three day period and then slowly decrease for the remainder of the week. Not all brands move their prices at the same time so there is a wide variation in prices from site to site.
Deputy Prices Commissioner Aaron Rayner said that, on average, Tuesday continues to be the cheapest day of the week to fill up with Friday the most expensive. The difference between the cheapest and most expensive day of the week can be up to 10 cents per litre, he said.
Tomorrow, over 200 (70%) petrol stations are selling below the metropolitan average of 117.8 cpl.
Tomorrow’s cheapest ULP is available for:
- 112.5 cpl at 6 sites in the East;
- 112.5 cpl at 12 sites in the North; and
- 112.5 cpl at 8 sites in the South.
Motorists can find the cheapest prices by checking the FuelWatch website at www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by phoning 1300 55 08 08.
