Plumbers Board coming to Town (Kalgoorlie)
Issue Date: - Wednesday, 8 April 2009
The Plumbers Licensing Board will visit Kalgoorlie this month for its first regional meeting for 2009.
Board Chairperson Judy Seif said the visit – on 28-30 April – would be an opportunity for the Board to meet local licensees, stakeholders and other interested groups in the goldfields.
The Plumbers Licensing Board is the self-governing regulatory authority responsible for licensing and regulating the plumbing industry in Western Australia. It focuses on maintaining compliance and workmanship standards for the protection of public health and safety and the environment.
“The Board’s Kalgoorlie visit will assist us in ensuring and encouraging good plumbing standards, and to maintain the integrity of regional community water supplies,” Ms Seif said.
“Good plumbing standards are important throughout Western Australia, and we currently have a focus on providing increased services throughout the Western Australian regions,” Ms Seif said.
While in Kalgoorlie the Board’s Trade Education and Training Standards Officer will hold a free Industry Forum for local plumbing, building and property industry stakeholders.
The forum will be held on the evening of Wednesday 29 April at the Quest Yelverton in Egan Street. Interested participants should register interest by calling the Board’s offices in Perth on 9282 4329.
Ms Seif said there also would be an opportunity for local stakeholders to meet with board members on Thursday, 30 April between 3.30-5.00pm at the Department of Commerce offices on the corner of Hunter and Broadwood Streets in West Kalgoorlie.
“These events are a good opportunity for local plumbers and other stakeholders to share their thoughts and concerns with the Board, and to assist the Board in providing them with a better service.
