Incident at Belle Isle Underground Mine under investigation

The Resources Safety Division has been notified of an incident which occurred yesterday afternoon at St Ives Belle Isle underground gold mine, near Kambalda.

Inspectors from Resources Safety arrived at the site early this morning (Friday November 21) to conduct preliminary investigations.

It is understood an electrician was injured while carrying out mechanical servicing of a pressure accumulator fitted to a process pump, which exploded.

The man received first aid at the site before being airlifted to Perth for further medical attention.

Resources Safety is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
