ULP price hike tomorrow
Issue Date: - Tuesday, 6 May 2008
Perth Motorists should fill their tanks today and tomorrow with the start of a new unleaded petrol (ULP) price cycle.
Seven Caltex and seven BP sites will jump their ULP prices by up to 13 cents per litre (cpl) to 154.9 cpl tomorrow (Wednesday 7 May).
The average price of ULP across Perth tomorrow is 143.7 cpl with more than 200 fuel stations will be selling at or below this price.
Petrol prices in the metropolitan area generally follow a two-week cycle, a marketing initiative by fuel companies. This means petrol prices increase over two to three days, then slowly decrease over the following week and a half.
FuelWatch is encouraging motorists to buy their petrol today or tomorrow while cheaper prices are still available and to check petrol prices before they buy.
Motorists should buy their fuel from competitive retailers who keep their prices low.
There are 143 sites across Perth selling at or below 141.5 cpl tomorrow, saving at least $7.35 per tank compared to the hike price, including the cheapest in the:
East at 139.1cpl
Coles Express Middle Swan
North at 139.1cpl
Coles Express Duncraig
Coles Express Clarkson
South at 140.7
United Spearwood
BP Connect Rockingham Park
BP Connect Riverton
BP Connect Palm Springs Warnbro
Motorists can find the best prices before buying by checking the FuelWatch website at www.fuelwatch.wa.gov.au or by calling 1300 55 08 08.
