WorkSafe investigates death of labourer at Wangara

WorkSafe is investigating the work-related death of a 43-year-old man at Wangara late yesterday.

The labourer was believed to have been helping to move a 300kg slab of engineered stone at a stone-working company when the slab fell onto the man and crushed him.

Inspectors arrived at the site soon after the incident, and will interview witnesses and continue to investigate.

WorkSafe thoroughly investigates all serious work-related injuries and deaths in WA with a view to preventing future incidents of a similar nature.

WorkSafe WA Commissioner Nina Lyhne said any work-related death was a tragedy, and relayed her sincere condolences to the man’s family.
