Western Australian employer recognised as family friendly

Applying progressive work and family initiatives in its workplace has won a South-West company the prestigious Western Australian Work and Family Award at a national presentation.

Jobs South West received the award at the national Work and Family Awards presentation dinner in Sydney.

The Western Australian Award, sponsored by the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection, recognises the most outstanding WA organisation in its identification, development and application of work and family initiatives.

“WA companies have been well represented in the general award categories in recent years,” Labour Relations Executive Director Jeff Radisich said today.

“This year the dedicated WA award was created to specifically acknowledge organisations with innovative work and family policies in this State,” he said.

Jobs South West is a small business organisation operating in a regional area which assists disadvantaged people make the transition into employment, education and training. 

Mr Radisich said Jobs South West recognised that integrating the work / life balance into the corporate culture was a business imperative.

“Work and family initiatives introduced for the 27 staff include flexitime arrangements, flexible on site child care arrangements when other arrangements are not available and access to personal leave covering sick leave, bereavement leave and study leave.”

Jobs South West was also highly commended in the Small Business category of the national Work and Family Awards.

“Labour Relations’ involvement with this event is consistent with an ongoing commitment to promote family friendly initiatives to employers and employees,” Mr Radisich said.
