Trading Fair at the 2000 Royal Show

The Ministry of Fair Trading will be operating an ‘off site’ (remote) Telephone Call Centre at this year’s Perth Royal Show. In addition to this, on-line information for interactive use by customers and traditional advice for consumers and businesses is provided.

The Ministry of Fair Trading can be found in area 379 of the Silver Jubilee Pavilion at the Claremont Show Grounds.

"Our focus this year is on fast and efficient service delivery" Chief Executive Patrick Walker said. "New technology enables our customers to contact us quickly, as well as access Ministry information and resources at very low cost" Mr. Walker said.

The Ministry’s Call Centre answers approximately 4,500 telephone inquiries per week, and a Call Centre operator will be working from the Royal Show via a remote link, in co-operation with the Ministry’s telephone service provider, Nortel.

Other features of this year’s participation will include the Ministry’s web-site and service links operating live for public use; officers being on hand to answer personal questions and provide give-a-ways such as shopping bags, (always a must for the show!) pens and fridge magnets; as well as a range of products bearing the local call cost 1300 telephone number which operates statewide.
