Shops to open on Monday holiday of Anzac Day long weekend

The Ministry of Fair Trading today reminded the public that general retail shops in the Perth metropolitan area would be permitted to open on the Monday holiday of the Anzac Day long weekend.

Minister for Fair Trading Doug Shave granted an exemption following a majority-vote recommendation from the Retail Shops Advisory Committee.

This decision does not apply to car yards, which will be closed on Monday, April 26.

Non-metropolitan local municipalities may wish to apply to the Ministry of Fair Trading for similar exemptions, should they choose to do so.

All metropolitan general shops must close on Anzac Day (Sunday, April 25), in accordance with the Retail Trading Hours Act.

The decision announced does not affect qualified small and specialised retail shops issued with extended trading certificates. These may open on any day.
