Credit providers, retailers and consumers can now access a full copy of the national Uniform Consumer Credit Code and information about the Code on a new website.
The new site, at www.creditcode.gov.au, has been produced by the Victorian Office of Fair Trading and Business Affairs under the direction of the Uniform Consumer Credit Code management Committee (UCCCMC).
Visitors to the WA Ministry of Fair Trading website can link directly to the Credit Code site.
UCCCMC Chair, Rod Stowe said every fair trading agency in Australia had had input into the site's development.
"We hope the site will become the official source for topical information about the Code," Mr Stowe said.
"Previously anyone wanting a full copy of the Code had to buy one from the Commonwealth Government Information Service.
"The site includes detailed background on the Code's formation which will give credit providers and retailers a better understanding of how the Code came about and what it sets out to achieve.
"The most popular questions asked by businesses on different aspects of the Code including advertising requirements and exemptions. There are also copies of all Credit Code publications," he said.
Mr Stowe said the site would be updated regularly, to inform the public of current issues and Code amendments.
