Information on the licencing of builders

The unregistered building limit under section 4 of the Builders' Registration Act 1939 increased from $12,000 to $20,000.

The thresholds under the Home Building Contracts Act 1939 also increased as follows:

  • Section 3(1): the prescribed minimum threshold from $6,000 to $7,500.
  • Section 3(1): the prescribed upper limit amount from $200,000 to $500,000.
  • Section 25A: the prescribed minimum amount for requiring home indemnity insurance from $12,000 to $20,000. - Section 25D(I)(a)(i): the prescribed limit under a home indemnity insurance policy for loss of deposit from $13,000 to $20,000 (or to 6.5% of the contract value if less than that amount).
