Finance brokers

A finance broker is a person who, as an intermediary, in the course of business negotiates or arranges loans of money for or on behalf of other persons, or, in the course of business, manages loans of money arranged or negotiated by the person for or on behalf of other persons.

Credit reform

Responsibility for the regulation of consumer credit (including licensing or regulation of finance brokers) is being transferred to the Commonwealth. It is currently proposed that this transfer will take place on 1 November 2009.  The National credit reform page contains further information.  This site will be updated as new information becomes available.
